Chronic Myeloid Leukemia: A retrospective study of clinical and pathological features

Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), is one of the myeloproliferative disorders with a characteristic cytogenetic abnormality resulting in BCR-ABL fusion gene. Imatinib Mesylate an effective agent for treating patients all stages CML. According to annual Iraqi cancer registry 2019, total number chronic was 338. The percentage and incidence rates were 0.94% 0.86%, respectively, higher rate males than females (1.12 0.60 females). In this registry, no details about CML, so study aimed estimate CML who attended national center hematology from 2005 until 2020 investigate their epidemiological clinic-pathological data. All data obtained National Center Hematology /Baghdad. Data regarding admission, deaths, information age, regions, sex, collected patient cards. Interview history taking reviewing clinical features at diagnosis performed, then statistical analysis achieved. Two hundred sixteen registered as CML; among them, 163 are still alive, while 53 died. mean age 40.39 ±14.30, male-to-female ratio 1:1.16. pediatrics group comprises 3.7% cases 1.8 % 9.4% alive dead groups, respectively. percentages death pediatric group, 62,5%( 5 /8), followed by ≥60 years, 42.1%(8/19), it least adults < 60 21.1% (40/189). conclusion, studied younger globally reported ages diagnosis, predominant female patients.
